Darin A. Childers, WCA General Counsel
Darin A. Childers, Attorney at Law, was appointed by Governor Susana Martinez and Director Ned S. Fuller to serve as the General Counsel of the New Mexico Workers' Compensation Administration (WCA) and assumed his position on June 27, 2011.
Mr. Childers was born in Curitiba, Brazil, but grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 2005 with a Bachelors Degree in History. Childers received his Juris Doctor in 2008, graduating cum laude from the Brigham Young University Law School. Mr. Childers was an active member of the school's moot court team and won awards for each of the appellate briefs he wrote. While in law school, he worked as a clerk in the Criminal Justice Division of the Utah Attorney General's Office.
Moving to New Mexico with his wife Jennifer and children in 2008, he has been an associate at the Albuquerque Law Firm of Allen, Shepherd, Lewis, Syra & Chapman, P.A. with his primary areas of practice being workers compensation and insurance defense litigation.
Mr. Childers serves as the top legal advisor and lead litigator for the NM Workers' Compensation Administration.
